Shaving

I recently switched from my usual shaving technology ( Edge Gel)to something a bit more retro and am really enjoying the experience. I have started using the classic badger tail brush with shaving soap. I have a little cup that I mixed up a little soap and water until things start to lather.

To tell the truth, it took a while for me to get it. My first two weeks I had weak lather and some un-smooth shaving. I made the classic newbie mistake of adding more soap and mixing it more. Not the answer. The trick is get a little soap in the cup, enough to start the foam, but then build the rest of the lather on the face. Really work it in and you are rewarded with a thick shaving cream that really lubricates the shaver. At first the time involved was not worth the trade offs, but now I am get thing lather up very quickly and find the time involved not much at all.

I see this trend of retro ways of doing things coming back in a big way. As we make life more dependent on technology we need to have our mental roots in making sure we can do things “ the old fashion way “
